Teen President's Message

Victoria Townsend

2023-2024 Program Year

Greetings, Montgomery County, MD Chapter!

It is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you on behalf of Group 6—the Teen Group!

My name is Victoria Townsend, a senior at James Hubert Blake High School, and I am honored to serve as your 2025–2026 Teen President. I look forward to leading with purpose, energy, and vision as we embark on what promises to be an incredible year together.

The Teen Executive Board had a productive and inspiring time at the August Leadership Retreat, and our Group 6 teens shared unforgettable moments during our Glamping experience at Hershey Park. These moments of bonding and growth laid a strong foundation for the dynamic year ahead.

As your Teen President, my goals are to foster active participation, build a strong and inclusive teen community, and ensure that every member feels empowered to lead. I aim to create more opportunities for teens to grow through service, education, and leadership while also encouraging us to challenge ourselves, collaborate, and take initiative. Together, we will build not only memories but the skills and confidence that will prepare us for life beyond this program.

Our calendar is already buzzing with excitement! From the HBCU Tour and Yard Experience, to attending COPA and celebrating Black Culture in NYC, and even having Dinner with Senator Angela Alsobrooks, the first four months alone are packed with opportunity and inspiration.

In the new year, we’ll learn how to manage money wisely, hike while exploring healthy eating habits, and enjoy a friendly sports competition with other chapters. All of this leads up to our biggest highlight—the Eastern Regional Teen Conference at the National Harbor, a moment where we will proudly represent the Montgomery County, MD Chapter and showcase all the growth, leadership, and excellence we’ve built together. Each of these experiences is designed to uplift, empower, and inspire, and I hope every teen will take full advantage of what’s ahead. I also encourage everyone to attend our monthly meetings where we’ll continue to plan, lead, and grow together.

With the help of the Teen Executive Board and the enthusiasm and readiness of our teens, I believe we will have a wonderful and unforgettable year!

With gratitude and excitement,

Victoria Townsend
